“Exercise More” Is Killing Your Gains

However, if you go from sitting for most of your day to working out six to seven times a week, your body isn’t going to be able to recover. You see, you can’t go from zero to 100 because your body can’t handle that. Instead, what I recommend for most people is that 1: they think about where they’re starting from. So if you’re a moderately active person, you might be able to handle working out five or six times a week. But if you’re just getting started, odds are you probably only need three or four days in the gym.

Number two is going to be that you guys should start focusing more on the basics and the fundamentals. And what I mean by that is there are three fundamentals. You have exercise, you have dieting and recovery. You see, stop focusing on adding more working out and start focusing more on the essentials and you’ll get better results. When it comes to fat loss, you see, most people think that more workouts equal more weight loss.

But in reality, a lot of it is diet. Most of it actually. So if you’re looking to get in great shape, don’t think about adding more and more working out. Think about focusing more on the essentials. When you master all three of those fundamentals, you will definitely start losing more weight rather than just working out more and exhausting your body.

So, if you want to get the best results don’t just look to add more workouts into your program, but maximize the other aspects such as recovery & nutrition.

That’s my Trainer Tip Tuesday for you guys this week; stay tuned and I’ll see you next week. For more on all things health and fitness, check out our Fenix Fitness Blog.
